TNF WEEK 1!

Thursday Night Football returns with...

A bummer match-up, really. Do the Cowboys stand a chance?

I guess there's exactly one way: Dak Prescott has to look like he did before his injury last year. That's really what we're all watching this game for, right? Does anyone give the Cowboys a chance in Hell? Maybe the surviving members of Pantera.

That joke was strained at best.

We are all assuming that the Buccaneers are going to come roaring out of the gate. I think it was Rich Eisen I heard say that teams are going to have a better chance of knocking down the Buccs late in the season after injuries and fatigue have been able to take their toll than in the first eight weeks or so. I don't know that I disagree. But for the sake of argument—

The Patriots were always slow coming out of the Preseason. The Buccs aren't the Pats. Bruce Arians isn't Belichick. I get that. And this roster is the same as last year's roster. So they're only going to get better with time.

But that's the magic of football, right? The lights come on, the players take the field, and anything can happen.

Now, anything doesn't normally happen. And I expect that to be the case, here. The Cowboys just don't have a good enough defense. And I don't know that I trust Prescott to keep up in a game that could go into the 50s if the offenses are working.

I don't know.

I want the Cowboys to win, just because it would be fun to see the narrative thwarted. But they lose. Buccaneers take it – oh, let's have fun – 43 – 40.

Cool. I probably should have written this up sooner, but I like to be late to every party, apparently.

I'll probably have the rest of the games either Friday or Saturday.
